A Delhi court has convicted Kashmiri freedom fighter Yasin Malik

A Delhi court has convicted Kashmiri militant leader Yasin Malik in a case of financing terrorism. Yasin Malik was found involved in other charges including financing of terrorists last Tuesday.

According to Indian news channel NDTV, Yasin Malik was charged under the Prevention of Illegal Activities Act.

The court has asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to review their financial situation to determine the amount to be imposed on them as fines.

The court directed Yasin Malik to submit an affidavit stating all sources of income and all assets.

The court will hear arguments on May 25 to determine the sentence.

Yasin Malik told the court that he was not facing any charges against him. Defense of 20 (terrorist organization and gang membership) was included.

Earlier, the court had said that Yasin Malik had set up a wide-ranging structure and mechanism all over the world to finance terrorists for illegal activities in Jammu and Kashmir in the name of ‘struggle for independence’.

The court also indicted other Kashmiri guerrilla leaders, including Farooq Ahmed Dar alias Bata Karate, Shabbir Shah, Masarat Alam, Muhammad Yusuf Shah, Aftab Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Naeem Khan, Muhammad Akbar Khande and Raja. Maharajuddin Kalwal, Bashir Ahmed Bhatt, Zahoor Ahmed Shah Watali, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Abdul Rashid Sheikh and Nawal Kishore Kapoor.
