Accused wanted by UK arrested in Rawalpindi after 27 years

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Circle has arrested a fugitive killer wanted by the National Crime Agency UK since 1995 from Islamabad.

According to Express News, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Islamabad Zone in a major operation arrested the fugitive killer Muhammad Basharat wanted by the National Crime Agency UK from Rawalpindi.

FIA officials say the suspect killed an Asian man in the British state of Wales in May 1995, after which the suspect fled the country and was declared a fugitive by British police. Zubair Ahmed, Additional Director of the Federal Investigation Agency Sheikh said that the accused had come to Pakistan from UK and changed his identity to Zameer Ali.

Additional Director Zubair Ahmed Sheikh FIA said that the successful arrest operation was carried out in collaboration with the UK National Crime Agency (NCA) Islamabad.

He said that this successful arrest operation shows the excellent working relationship of enforcement agencies for Pakistan and UK.
