Court refrains from announcing verdict in foreign funding case, PTI

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notice to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on a miscellaneous petition seeking stay of early decision on the prohibited foreign funding case and directed to fix it for hearing with intra-court appeal.

A two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court headed by Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the miscellaneous petition of PTI.

PTI lawyer Anwar Mansoor appeared in the court and took the position that the Election Commission was handling our case on a daily basis whereas it was not so in the cases of other parties. The PTI lawyer said that the scrutiny process started together in 2018 but only the case of PTI is moving forward, the scrutiny committee of other parties has not been formed yet.

The PTI lawyer took the position that the Election Commission was showing impartiality with the PTI and our documents were taken away and given to the whole world.

The PTI lawyer pleaded with the court that the Election Commission would take a decision soon and therefore it should be restrained from giving a decision soon. The court issued notice for Thursday on various petitions and adjourned the hearing.
