Faraz Anwar was born on 15 July 1977 in Karachi. In 6th grade he decided to pick-up a guitar after seeing a video of guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen on TV. He got his education from St. Paul and St. Andrews, but left after his matriculation because he wanted to pursue a career in music.

Faraz Anwar started off his career in 1990 as a session guitarist playing for many different musicians. Some of the musicians that he worked for include: Aakash, Arsh, Awaz, Adnan Afaq, Ali Haider, Arid Zone, Athar Ali, Alamgir, Circle, Collage, Deciples, Dominos, Faizi, Faakhir, Fariha Pervaiz, Final Cut, Fringe Benefits, Goonj, Hadiqa Kiani, Hassan Ali, Haroon, Heart Communication, Humainyo Naz, Imik, John Mall, Junoon, Junaid Jamshed, Khalid Waheed, Komal Rizvi, Live Sketches, Lucky Ali, Masood Aley, Nadeem Kazmi, Nadeem Jafri, Najam Sheraz, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Overdrive, Power House, Rahil, Sajjad Ali, Sanwal, Seema, Shargeel Khan, Shahzad Mughal, Shiraz Upal, Strings, Uzma Shah, Vital Signs, Waqar Ali, Yatagan.

Faraz received Outstanding Musical Achievement Award 96″ by Berklee School of Music. The recognition came with his solo instrumental album ‘Abstract Point Of View’, for which he wrote all the music and sequencing, and it was released by Gnarly Geezer Records internationally in 2001, Allan HOLDSWORTH owned the label . The album was the second guitar-based instrumental album to be produced in Pakistan.

With an already large fan following, Faraz Anwar made his Coke Studio debut with band Mizraab in Season 4. Anwar returned soon after in Season 7 as a guitarist in collaboration with Sajjad Ali. In this season, he joins us again to unearth some progressive rock ballads to stir the soul.
