World Blood Pressure Day or World Hypertension Day is being celebrated all over the world including Pakistan. Blood pressure is called the silent killer and it is spreading fast.

However, blood pressure can be controlled by exercising, avoiding smoking, dietary precautions and regular diet.

This condition, known as ‘silent killer’, can lead to heart attack and stroke. In addition, high blood pressure can cause terrible diseases for the kidneys and eyes. Although there is a severe lack of statistics on such patients in Pakistan. But according to the National Health Survey, 18% of young people and 33% of people over the age of 45 are suffering from some form of high blood pressure.

However, smoking, exercise and certain foods can be very helpful in lowering blood pressure without any medication.

Beetroot

If you are not diabetic, beetroot juice can play a very important role in lowering blood pressure. A survey of about 300,000 people in Norway was conducted. It selected patients with high blood pressure who did not have any type of diabetes.

All participants were divided into two groups, one group was ignored and the other was given one cup of beetroot juice daily. On the tenth day alone, the patients with high blood pressure showed improvement and their blood pressure started decreasing by ten to twenty units.

Bananas are rich in potassium. 100 grams of bananas contain 358 mg of potassium. Potassium has the property of not only keeping blood pressure in moderation but also reducing elevated blood pressure. Potassium is an element that calms the inner walls of blood vessels and thus creates openness.

This lowers blood pressure levels.

Experts say that drinking a glass of tomato juice is the best natural medicine to keep blood pressure normal.

According to a popular website called Healthline, it can easily control blood pressure. Japanese experts gave some people a glass of unsalted tomato juice daily for a year. They found that blood pressure dropped significantly, cholesterol decreased, and thus filling the blood vessels with plaque reduced the tendency for constipation.

This is because tomatoes contain many types of polyphenols and other compounds.

Garlic

Garlic commonly used in the Indian subcontinent is also called ‘magic vegetable’. It contains a chemical called allicin, which helps control blood pressure. Therefore, garlic plays an important role in lowering cholesterol. On the other hand, it also lowers blood pressure.
