Government decides to close markets at 830 pm

In a meeting of the National Economic Council chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the provinces agreed in principle to close the bazaar at 8.30 pm to save electricity. However, the chief ministers of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan have asked for two days to consult in this regard.

The Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the National Economic Council which was attended by the Chief Ministers of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was represented by Chief Secretary Dr Shehzad Khan Bangash.

According to the statement, the chief ministers appreciated the steps taken by the federal government to deal with the energy crisis and the four provinces agreed on the proposal to close the bazaar at 8.30 pm.

The statement said that the Chief Ministers of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan have asked for two days to complete the consultation with the trade and business organizations in their respective provinces.

According to the statement, the chief ministers agreed with the decisions of the federal cabinet on nationwide measures to deal with the energy crisis and assured full cooperation in tackling the crisis.
