How to download Instagram Stories on all platforms

Instagram Reels is a product of Facebook on TikTok. It has a similar swipe gesture for navigation and also shows random 15-second video content you might like similar to TikTok. But unlike TikTok, ‘Instagram Reels’ lacks a download option. Anyhow, irrespective of the platform, you have many third-party alternatives to download scrolls. Here’s how you can do it.

Option 1: Built-in save option

Before looking at third-party apps, let’s take a look at what’s built into Instagram.

The easiest way to save scrolls is to use the built-in save option. Unlike what the name suggests, it doesn’t download the video to your local storage but acts like a bookmarking option for times when you want to come back to it later. With that, you have other advantages like you can access these saved reels on any device just by logging in with your Instagram account.

To save a reel, open the Instagram app and navigate to the reel you want to save. Now tap the three-dot menu at the bottom. Now tap Save in the pop-up menu. That’s it, you’ve saved the reel to your gallery.

You can access your saved reels by tapping the profile icon in the bottom right corner and opening the hamburger menu in the top right corner. Now select the option named Saved from the sidebar.

Here you can find all your saved scrolls in a folder called all posts. Alternatively, you can select a few posts and create collections if you want. You can also access this saved list from the web version.

Anyhow, if the uploader decides to remove the reels, you will also lose them from the saved list.

Option 2: Download on Android

To get started, download the Instagram Video and Photo Downloader App (aka InsTake Downloader) Now open the Instagram app and navigate to the reel you want to download. Tap the three-dot menu at the bottom and select Copy link. Then open the InsTake Downloader and the app will automatically place the link you copied. Click on the Download option below and that’s it the download will start right away.

You can find downloaded videos in InsTake Downloader in your Library.

Option 3: Download on iPhone

You can download movie reels on iPhone with the help of InSaver. Once downloaded, open the Instagram app and navigate to the reel you want to download. Now tap the three-dot menu at the bottom and select Copy link.

Go to InSaver and paste the link in the text field at the top and tap the blue color watch it below. Above watch itthe video may take time to load but you can continue by tapping Options at the bottom.

Now choose Share in the pop-up window. In the Share menu, tap Save video to save the film roll.

You can find downloaded videos in the Photos app.

Option 4: Download using Website

If you are using a desktop computer or you just want to save a single video using a website that will make the job easier and faster. To save, just copy the scroll link. If you’re visiting the Instagram website on a desktop computer, you can find a three-dot menu next to the post in the Instagram Feed. Just click it and click Copy link.

Now open the Download Instagram Video website and paste the link in the Instagram video URL. After pasting, click Download Instagram Videos.

Your video will now be native. Once available, tap on ‘Download Video in Mp4 format’ to save the video to your local storage.

Option 5: Download with Chrome Extension

Downloading using the website works, but if you prefer to use Instagram on desktop and are willing to download more often, there is an extension that will make the process easy. To get started, add the Downloader for Instagram extension to your Chrome browser.

Now, open Instagram and navigate to the reel you want to download. You just need to hover over the video and find the download button in the top left corner. Just click on it to download the reel.
