Federal Finance Minister Muftah Ismail has said that he should not have announced the increase in petrol price on TV.
Finance Minister Muftah Ismail wrote on the social networking site Twitter that I did not have to go on TV last evening to announce the increase in the prices of petroleum products, but this announcement was to be made by another colleague of mine.
He said that the Prime Minister had decided that Musaddiq Malik and I should announce the increase in the prices of petroleum products.
Earlier, in a press briefing, the finance minister had said that Imran Khan had broken the agreement with the IMF and caused a loss of Rs 233 billion to the country. According to the PTI government’s agreement, the price of petrol at that time would have been Rs 70 more than the current price, but now it has imposed a petroleum levy of Rs 5 and 10.
