Imran Khan announces nationwide protest against inflation

Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that his government acted as a shield against rising global prices and saved the people from its effects, including food prices. I will be protesting across the country from today against the continuous increase.

Presiding over a meeting of party spokespersons, former prime minister Imran Khan said, “I had warned that if any attempt was made to overthrow the PTI government, the economy would be badly affected and spiral out of control.” ۔

The meeting discussed issues related to the economy and the difficulties faced by the citizens due to rising inflation.

Imran Khan announced that the PTI would launch a nationwide protest movement from today against the rising prices of goods and the continuous increase in energy and gas prices, including petrol products.

He said that the thieves have increased the prices to fill their pockets and have left the people in trouble. Those who have built properties abroad have no worries about the citizens and their future.

He said that in the last two months, it was proved how a conspiracy was hatched against Pakistan and what were the motives behind it.

He added that those who came to power were not ready to run the government and now the institutions are on the verge of collapse.

The participants of the meeting said that the friendly countries as well as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) did not attach any importance to the present government as they knew that it lacked public support and confidence.

The participants of the meeting condemned the government’s tactics of harassing the citizens on freedom of expression and especially on social media.

The participants of the meeting also expressed concern over the poor response of the people in the recent by-elections in Karachi and the failure of the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold free, fair and peaceful elections.

The meeting, along with the government’s decision to cut the budget of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s tribal districts by Rs 21 billion, also expressed frustration over reports that health cards provided by the PTI government to 5 million people in those areas Will be deprived.

The meeting participants warned that any attempt to withdraw the integration of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) would be resisted.

Protest against inflation

Former Minister Imran Khan urged the people to come out of their homes and participate in anti-inflation demonstrations and work out a plan of action for the future.

The protest will take place at 9 pm and the PTI chairman will address the protesters and the nation around 10 pm during which he will also announce the next course of action.

The former prime minister slammed the current government, alleging that thugs and looters had nothing to do with public welfare.

He added that he had mortgaged the country to replenish his coffers.

On the other hand, PTI senior vice chairman and former information minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain in a video message has asked the people to participate in the anti-inflation protest.

He said that protests would be staged at Chowk Shah Abbas in Multan, Shahra-e-Qaedin in Karachi, Liberty Chowk in Lahore, Ghanta Ghar in Faisalabad and Commercial Market in Rawalpindi.

The former minister said that protests would also be staged at Hashtnagri Gate in Peshawar and F-Nine Park in Islamabad.
