Increase in power shortfall across the country

The shortfall of electricity in the country has reached 7,577 MW. Distribution of electricity in rural and urban areas is being affected due to difference in load shedding schedule and 2,000 MW of electricity is not being distributed due to difference in schedule.

According to sources in Power Division, power generation shortfall is 5,577 MW and distribution shortfall is 2,000 MW. Distribution of electricity in rural and urban areas is being affected by the difference in load shedding schedule and 2,000 MW power is not being distributed due to difference in schedule.

According to sources in the Power Division, the total power generation in the country is 21,923 MW while the demand for electricity in the country is 27,500 MW.

According to the data, 5,269 MW of electricity is being generated from water and government thermal plants are generating 1,572 MW of electricity while the total output of private sector power plants is 11,668 MW. The production from wind power plants is 1,539 MW and from solar plants it is 500 MW.

Bagas-powered plants are generating 137 megawatts of electricity, while nuclear fuel is generating 2,239 megawatts. Load shedding of up to 14 hours is being carried out in different parts of the country.

Load shedding of up to 6 hours is also being carried out in Islamabad region while the duration of load shedding is longer in areas with high losses.
