Major court decision regarding Dua Zahra case

Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered medical examination to determine the age of Dua Zahra recovered from Chishtian and directed to send the girl to a shelter home.

Dua Zehra and her husband Zaheer were produced in the Sindh High Court under tight security. On this occasion, Dua Zehra’s parents expressed their desire to meet their daughter but the police refused to allow Dua Zehra’s parents to meet their daughter. ۔

Advocate General Sindh told the court that Dua Zahra has been presented on the orders of the court, on which Justice Junaid Ghaffar inquired that the case is pending on June 10, why did you come today, Advocate General Sindh said that the court The order was to present the dua as soon as it was recovered, while the Lahore High Court has also summoned the dua on June 10.

Advocate General Sindh said that the girl left the province voluntarily and went to Punjab and got married.

The court asked Advocate General Sindh what was the case in Lahore. The court was told that the boy’s parents had filed a harassment petition in the Lahore High Court. No crime was committed in the province, the marriage took place there.

Advocate General Sindh said that the girl has gone of her own free will. No crime has been committed here. Punjab Police has to offer prayers to Zahra and Zaheer.

The lawyer of the girl’s father Mehdi Kazmi said in the court that a case of abduction of the girl has been registered.

Mehdi Kazmi’s lawyer told the court that the date of birth was recorded in the birth certificate of Dua on April 27, 2008. At present, Dua is 14 years and a few days old.

Justice Junaid Ghaffar remarked that if the girl gives a statement now, the kidnapping case will be over.

Dua Zehra told the court that my name is Dua Zehra and father’s name is Mehdi Kazmi, to which the court asked what is your age? Dua said that she is 18 years old and lives with her husband Zaheer.

The Sindh High Court inquired whether your father had said that Zaheer had abducted you by force. To which Dua said no, I was not kidnapped.

The court asked where you were rescued from. On which the girl said that I have been rescued from Chishtian, I want to go with Zaheer.

Justice Junaid Ghaffar remarked that the girl was standing in front of us saying that she was not abducted.

“Parents are standing and worried, but we have to look at the law. If the girl does not want to meet, how can we force her,” he said.

The Sindh High Court, while ordering a medical test in two days to determine the age of Dua Zahra, adjourned further hearing of the case till June 8 and directed to send the girl to a shelter home.

Earlier, police officials said that Dua Zahra was shifted from Lahore to Karachi and handed over to Women Police while Dua Zahra’s husband Zaheer was handed over to AVCC.

Assistant Advocate General Sindh said that he wanted to record the statement by presenting Dua Zahra, the court should allow Dua Zahra to present today, on which the court accepted the petition and accepted the case for hearing today.

It may be recalled that Dua Zahra, who went missing from Karachi in April, was recovered from Chishtian about a month and a half ago. Dua Zahra and her husband Zaheer were detained by CIA police in Lahore from the house of a lawyer. ۔

The Sindh High Court had ordered to recover Dua Zahra and present her in the court on June 10.
