A spokesman for the Punjab Assembly, while confirming the arrest of Director General Parliamentary Affairs Rai Mumtaz, claimed that the police personnel climbed over the walls and entered Rai Mumtaz’s house.
He alleged that the police also raided the house of Punjab Assembly Secretary Coordination Muhammad Khan Bhatti Inayatullah Lak but failed to arrest him.
Meanwhile, Speaker Provincial Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi condemned the police action and claimed that all this was being done on the orders of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Pervez Elahi has termed the alleged move of the government as ‘fascist’.
He said that after violating the sanctity of the House, the government was using new methods.
The Speaker Punjab Assembly said that the action taken against the Punjab Assembly officials proved that the government was ‘scared’.
He said that the unconstitutional and fake government was taking steps against the constitution and law and the ‘real face’ of the Sharifs had been exposed to the public.
