Peace and order will be ensured in the by-elections: Home Minister

Under the chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, a special meeting was held regarding the peace and order arrangements in the by-elections of July 17, in which the peace and order situation in the by-elections will be ensured in any case.

Punjab Interior Minister Attaullah Tarar, Home Secretary Yousuf Naseem Khokhar, Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Ali Afzal, IG Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan, and other officials including top military officials participated in the meeting. In the meeting, arrangements regarding law and order during the July 17 by-elections were reviewed.

In the meeting, the Chief Election Commissioner’s letter regarding the deployment of security forces in the constituencies of the by-elections was also reviewed.

In the meeting, the participants expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements in the constituencies of the 17th July by-elections. And during the by-elections, important decisions were taken to make the election environment conducive to ensure peace and order.

Deploying Frontier Constabulary apart from Rangers for peace and order during by-elections and display of firearms in all constituencies of Punjab and Sindh by-elections; It was decided to immediately arrest, confiscate weapons and cancel the license for violating the complete ban on carrying and firearm ban orders.

In the meeting, on the basis of intelligence reports, the entry of miscreants into by-election constituencies was banned and the reports regarding 300 armed men brought from Gujarat to Lahore were also reviewed and the influence of such armed men on peace and order during the by-elections. Due to this, it was decided to take advance measures.

It was also decided to set up a special control room in the Ministry of Interior for July 16 and 17 to continuously monitor the law and order situation.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah also issued instructions to the Federal Interior Secretary to implement the decisions taken in the meeting.

In this regard, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that it is our national responsibility to ensure peace and order and we will use all resources for security arrangements during the by-elections.

He said that Civil Armed Forces will provide full support to Sindh and Punjab government for peace and security, additional security personnel will be deployed in 6 highly sensitive constituencies of Punjab, these constituencies include 4 constituencies of Lahore, Bhakkar and Multan constituencies. .

The Interior Minister said that no person will be allowed to display or carry weapons and the presence of miscreants and armed persons in the constituencies is not acceptable in any case.

He directed to keep a close watch on the miscreants brought from other provinces and to take preemptive steps against the 300 armed men brought from Gujarat.

It should be noted that by-elections in Punjab will be held on July 17, these seats were vacant due to defection of PTI members of Punjab Assembly.
