Runway cleared at Skardu Airport after snowfall

The runway has been cleared by removing snow from the world’s highest Skardu airport.

The runway at Skardu Airport was closed due to snowfall and has now been cleared. The airport became fully operational for the landing and take-off of aircraft.

The airport management said that the runway and upper areas were cleared in 8 hours on the basis of commotion. Runways and upper areas were completely closed due to 6 inches of snow at the airport.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is working on an emergency basis at and around Skardu Airport.

CAA staff is clearing the runway with tractors and Bob Kate. Skardu Airport is fully operational for the landing and take off of aircraft.

The management further said that the airlines can operate the flight depending on the weather conditions.
