Sean Masood likely to return to Test cricket

Opener Shaun Masood is likely to return to Test cricket after a stellar performance in county cricket.

Shaun Masood has scored 991 runs in 11 innings in county cricket including 4 fifties and 3 centuries. Shaun Masood also became the first Pakistani batsman to score two consecutive double centuries in the County Championship.

The announcement of the national Test squad for the tour of Sri Lanka is expected next week. There is a possibility of one to two changes in the national squad. Along with Shaun Masood, league spinner Yasir Shah is also likely to return to the team.

In the series against Australia, either Sajid Khan or Zahid Mahmood is likely to be dropped from the national Test team. Out of form Fawad Alam’s position in the Test team is also in danger.

According to PCB sources, Chief Selector Muhammad Waseem will announce the final squad after consultation with Captain Babar Azam and approval of Chairman PCB.

League spinners have been away from the national team for a long time. He has shown impressive performance in Pakistan Cup. The dates of the two Test matches to be played in the Pak-Sri Lanka series are also expected to be announced next week.
