A young Pakistani soldier was martyred in an exchange of fire after a terrorist attacked a military check post in the North Waziristan tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists carried out the attack on the night of June 1 and 2 in the Datta Khel area.
The statement said that Pakistan Army forces immediately launched an immediate response to the attack that took place on Thursday night and effectively targeted the terrorists’ hideouts.
However, in a fierce exchange of fire, a 28-year-old soldier from Sargodha was martyred while fighting with Hamid Ali Bahadur.
The ISPR said that a clearance operation was underway to eliminate the terrorists found in the area.
He said that Pakistan Army was committed to eradicate the scourge of terrorism while such sacrifices of our brave soldiers would not go in vain.
It may be recalled that the incident took place on May 30, two days after a suicide bomber struck a parked vehicle near a military check post in Razmak sub-division of North Waziristan in which two security personnel and several children were injured.
Authorities say the suicide bomber rammed his motorcycle into a security forces vehicle.
