The Lahore High Court granted the petitions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and annulled the election of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) had yesterday reserved its decision after hearing the petitions seeking removal of Hamza Shahbaz from the post of Punjab Chief Minister. A five-member bench of the Lahore High Court headed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan conducted the hearing.
Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz’s lawyer Mansoor Awan while PTI’s Ali Zafar and PML-Q’s lawyer Amir Saeed appeared in the court and gave arguments. The President was represented by Ahmed Owais, Barrister Ali Zafar and Imtiaz Siddiqui.
During the hearing, Justice Shahid Jamil had remarked that the interpretation of the Supreme Court would be applicable in the present circumstances. If we conclude that the judgment would apply from the past, we would issue immediate orders.
