A meeting of the Punjab Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz in which a 30% increase in the salaries of government employees of the province was approved.

It should be noted that the budget of Punjab for the new financial year 2022-23 of Rs 3226 billion will be presented today. A budget meeting of the Punjab Assembly will be held under the chairmanship of Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. Provincial Minister Sardar Owais Leghari will present a budget of Rs. 3226 billion for the next financial year. Former provincial minister Hafiz Ammar Yasir will present the resolution in the house. PTI and PML-Q will also raise the issue of cases and arrests against their members.
Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections, but will continue to protest the arrests and lawsuits. Before the meeting of the Punjab Assembly, a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee will be held in which the issues of conducting the budget meeting by mutual understanding will be discussed.
The Punjab government has proposed to keep the budget for the financial year 2022-23 at Rs. 3226 billion. The budget budget will be tax free. It is proposed to allocate Rs 528 billion for local governments, Rs 685 billion for development expenditure, Rs 435 billion for salaries and Rs 312 billion for pensions.
Revenue is estimated at Rs. 2521 billion, of which Rs. 2020 billion is expected to come from federal revenue and provincial revenue is estimated at Rs. 500 billion. Non-tax revenue is estimated to increase by 24% to Rs 163 billion, excise revenue collection targets increased by 2% to Rs 43 billion, Board of Revenue revenue increased by 44% to Rs 96 billion, Punjab Revenue Authority target 190 billion with an increase of 22%.
