The results of the by-elections in Punjab shook the throne of Lahore, Hamza Shehbaz won the majority for the Chief Ministership and paved the way for Parvez Elahi to become the Chief Minister of Punjab.
After the results of the by-elections on 20 seats of Punjab came out, the position of the parties in the provincial assembly has been revealed, according to which PTI is at the top with the highest number of seats in the assembly.
According to the party’s position in Punjab at that time, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf had 163 members in the assembly, but by getting 15 seats in the by-election, its number of members has increased to 178.
In Punjab, PTI’s ally Jamaat (Q) League has a total of 10 members, after which the two parties have a total of 188 members in the Punjab Assembly at present.
On the other hand, Muslim League (N) previously had 164 members in the Punjab Assembly, but after winning 4 seats in the by-election, its number of members has now increased to 168.
Apart from this, there are 7 members of People’s Party in Punjab while 3 independent members and one member belongs to Rahe-e-Haq Party, after which the total number is 179 with allies of (N) League.
An independent candidate has also won in the by-election held on July 17, while Member of Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Nisar is inactive.
After the resignation of 2 members of the (N) League, 2 seats are still vacant in the House of 371 Punjab Assembly.
