The government has taken a big step to protect the data of mobile phone users by allowing users to block unwanted SMS.
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Strategic Reforms Salman Sufi and Chairman PTA consulted on the protection of data of mobile phone users and unsolicited SMS sent by marketers.
According to a press release, the consultation agreed on immediate policy formulation to allow citizens to block unwanted SMS. He also informed about the instructions for immediate review of the privacy laws of the citizens.
He said that privacy of citizens is a constitutional right and the Prime Minister wanted to ensure that it was not violated.
The Chairman PTA will brief the Prime Minister’s Strategic Reforms Unit on the steps being taken in this regard today. According to the statement, the proposed measures in this regard include the user will be able to report to the company sending the message received without permission.
In addition, the user will have the right to refuse to send any message to any sending company which must be complied with by the company.
In addition, the company will be obliged not to give user data to any other company without its consent.
