Meta Platforms Inc.’s photo-sharing platform, Instagram, has been hampered by thousands of users.
According to the foreign news agency ‘Reuters’, the tracking website of social media platforms, DownDetector.com, said that more than 6,000 users of Instagram have lodged complaints regarding access issues.
DownDetector.com collects information from a variety of sources, including reports of problems faced by users.
The number of users experiencing difficulty accessing the Instagram service may exceed the number reported.
According to DownDetector, 84% of the reports indicate that access to Instagram’s mobile application is hampered.
However, Meta Platforms said in a statement: “We know that some people have problems accessing Instagram but we are addressing these issues.”
“We are working to bring things back to normal as soon as possible and we apologize to consumers for any inconvenience,” the statement said.
It may be recalled that in October last year, major social media services including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp faced massive problems which affected millions of users.
Santosh Janardhan, vice president of infrastructure at Meta, apologized to users and said in a blog post that configuration changes on backbone routers that connect network traffic between our data centers have caused problems for Instagram.
