How To Make French Fries At Home

* Resources:

  • Potatoes: 500g fresh potatoes, big tubers.
  • 1 little unsalted butter.
  • Cooking oil: 500ml.
  • Oil absorbent paper.
  • Seasoning: Salt, sugar, chili sauce, mayonnaise, cheese powder (optional).
  • Tools: Stove, non-stick pan, stainless steel hole, basket…

* Making:

Step 1: Peel the potatoes, peel them off, and immediately drop them into a bowl of salted water for about 15 minutes so that they don’t darken.

Step 2: After soaking the potatoes, wash them, take them out and cut them into arbitrary shapes.

Step 3: Put the potatoes in a pot to boil with a pinch of salt, a little sugar, when just cooked, take them out to drain, immediately soak in cold water for about 5 minutes.

Note: The short boiling step will help the fries become more crispy, fry faster and not be chewy or mushy when cooled. But do not boil too hard to avoid the potatoes being crushed.

Step 4: Pour oil into the pan, heat it on medium low heat, add a little unsalted butter to melt, then fry the potatoes in the oil. While frying, gently stir fry until all sides are cooked evenly. When you see a golden color, the potatoes are cooked, use a patch with holes to take out the basket, line the bottom with greaseproof paper.
